one hundred and seven 107 E After school Sam sees Emma at the computer club. “Emma. Guess what!” shouts Sam. Emma is playing a game. She isn’t listening to Sam at the moment. “I’ve got a part in the play.” “What are you talking about?” “The play. I’m an actor now.” “I don’t believe you.” “It’s true.” “OK, what part?” “It’s a secret. I can’t tell you. You must wait for opening night. Hey, can I play that game, too?” “No, Sam, wait. You can play the next game.” F Finally it is the opening night of the play. Lisa and Emma are sitting in the audience. The curtain goes up and Lisa whispers, “Wow! Look at our scenery!” “But where are Terry and Sam?” asks Emma. “I don’t think they’re in the play. It’s just a big joke,” Lisa answers. “Oh, no! Look at that horse on the stage. It’s so funny!” The girls laugh a lot. They think the play is very, very good. Later, when the play is over, all the actors are on the stage and everybody claps. Suddenly Terry and Sam are on the stage, too. Terry is carrying the horse’s head and Sam is carrying the horse’s tail. The boys wave to Emma and Lisa. “They are good actors,” Emma says. “Well, they make a good horse,” Lisa says and laughs. 1 The right order Put the sentences in the right order. a) Sam goes to the computer club. b) Terry and Sam are a great horse! c) The curtain goes up. d) Terry tells Lisa about his part. e) The friends are happy with the scenery. f) The boys are both angry. g) The friends see Mrs Carter in the hall. 2 A great play Answer the questions about the story. 1.
