There are five boroughs, or parts of the city: Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island and the Bronx. So the city has a lot – more than 60 – of bridges and tunnels. • France gave the US the Statue of Liberty as a present. It is 305 feet tall, and a symbol of freedom for Americans. • Chinatown has lots of Chinese restaurants and stores. NYC’s first Chinese immigrants lived here. • On September 11, 2001 terrorists destroyed the twin towers of the World Trade Center. Over 2,800 people died.
