EastEnders I hate to think how many soap operas I watch a week. I’m a real soap addict. I watch them all. But if I had to pick one to watch, then I’d choose “EastEnders”. I’ve never missed an episode. I remember the first one back in 1985 and all those early characters, Dirty Den, Angie and Nick Cotton – they were classic episodes. It’s still great and some of the original members of the cast are still in it, Ian Beale and Pauline Fowler, for example. Ian’s my favourite, he’s so bad. I think the reason why it’s my favourite is because it’s set where I was born, in the East End of London. It’s just about ordinary people, the kind of people I grew up around, and the ordinary things that they do. Well, of course it’s a bit more violent. I mean there’s more murders in it than I remember; but I like the way they bring in current issues like AIDS, teenage girls getting pregnant and stuff like that. And another thing that’s good about it is that no matter how bad your life seems, it’s never as bad as it is for the characters in “EastEnders”.
