Language in use You are going to read a text about “Fair City”, Ireland’s most popular soap opera. In most lines of the text there is an unnecessary word. Write the unnecessary word in the space provided after each line. Some lines are correct. Indicate these with a tick (  ). The series originally focused but on the domestic and 7 professional lives of a four Carrigstown families. This was similar to the 8 British soap “EastEnders”, which also originally focused on a number of more 9 families. Over time the emphasis has grown up to include the wider 10 community of all Carrigstown.
