Which one Jodie French, 19, a profoundly deaf farm girl from Illinois, USA, has created a sensation in her hometown by curing a sick horse which expensive vets said could not be helped. Jodie has a truly amazing ability to communicate with animals. She has found countless lost pets and cured sick animals that seemed certain to die. ‘We commu- nicate in pictures,’ Jodie explains. ‘If I talk to you, I do it with words, but with the animals, I send a picture. They send me pictures back, too. That’s how I find out what’s wrong with them, or where they are when they’re lost.’ Jodie believes she developed these skills as a child when she spent many hours with the animals on her parents’ farm. Experts are baffled by Jodie’ s explanation, but whatever she’ s doing, it seems to work. The horse that Jodie saved had had a bad leg for many years. The vet’s X-rays had shown nothing. However, after spending an hour with the animal, Jodie insisted that there was a piece of metal deep in the leg. The vet was finally persuaded to re-X-ray the leg and to his astonishment, the metal was exactly where Jodie had said it would be. Now, following an operation, the horse is back to full health. ‘I don’t know how she does it,’ said the owner, ‘but next time an animal of mine gets sick, I know who I’ll call first!’ Jodie French is 19 years old. She was born on a farm in Illinois, in the USA. She was born deaf. She spent a lot of time with the animals on the farm while she was growing up. She learnt to communicate with them by sending and receiving mental pictures. She was able to find out what was wrong with sick animals. She could also find lost animals. People in the area heard about her abilities. Jane Forman’s horse developed a prob- lem with its leg. The vets could not cure it. Jane asked Jodie to look at the horse. Jodie spent one hour with the horse and then said that there was a piece of metal inside its leg. The vet agreed to re-X-ray the leg and found the piece of metal. It was removed and now the horse is cured. Jane Forman was very grateful to Jodie. A A special person B Girl ‘talks’ to animals 64 Nur zu Prüfzwecken – Eigentum des Verlags öbv
