Write 120–150 words. WRITING 25 Listen to Keith talking to a friend, Naomi. What two lies do they talk about? Do you think each lie is serious? Is Keith’s story surprising? In reported speech, the verb usually changes one tense back (e.g. from past to past perfect), and other parts of the sentence can change as well, like pronouns and adverbs of time and place. What three changes do you see in Keith’s statement after the reporting verb? Underline them and their counterparts in Anna’s statement. When we relate a conversation, we often summarise what people say with reporting verbs.
