Read the text and underline the facts which you want to remember about rain. Air usually holds tiny water drops (or droplets). These tiny water droplets form the clouds in the sky. When they get bigger and bigger, they get too heavy to stay up in the sky. Then they fall to the ground as rain in spring, summer or autumn or as snow in winter (if it’s very cold). When a lot of rain falls in a short time, we call it a downpour. Sometimes there is only light rain going on for a long time, this is called drizzle. If there is rain, lightning and thunder, it is a thunderstorm. Rain is important for the plants to grow. If there is no rain for a long time, the plants will die. But too much rain can cause dangerous floods. 4 Hi from India everyone, 08/08/2017 We’re having a great time here but it’s VERY hot! The climate is completely different from ours at home … The average temperature is about 33 °C so the air conditioning in the hotel is on all the time. Yesterday we went to the beach, but today it’s raining … The rain (it’s called the monsoon) comes very suddenly. It’s so heavy the traffic stops! Our Indian friends say it’s normal and lasts from June to September!! We went to see the Western Ghat Hills, but the sky was grey and thundery. Then the monsoon rain started so we didn’t see anything! We need to come again when it’s not so wet!
