It is about a famous footballer teamwork healthy meals 10 Sam lies on his bed and looks at posters of famous football players on his bedroom wall. He wants to be a football star like them. The school coach says: “Practise hard, son, and maybe you can be on the team.” On the team! Sam can almost hear his fans shouting his name. Sam Tucker, football genius! Every day, Sam practises for hours alone in his garden. “Come in now, Sam, it’s time for dinner!” his mother calls. “Footballers need to eat properly.” – “I’m not hungry, Mum,” says Sam. Every night, Sam stays up late at night and watches video clips of famous footballers. One morning when he wakes up and looks in the mirror, his eyes are red. He has a terrible headache. His mother takes him to the doctor. “You should get more sleep, young man,” the doctor says. “A footballer’s body needs fresh fruit and vegetables daily, Sam. And you need to drink milk for strong bones.” 5 10 15 20 Sam starts to get more sleep at night and eat healthy meals. After school, he plays football alone in the garden until the balls stick to his feet like magic! When the coach sees what Sam can do, he says, “Sam, you’re on the team!” It’s the first big match of the season and Sam gets the ball. A player on his team has a perfect chance to score a goal! The teammate shouts, “Pass the ball to me, Sam! To me!” But of course Sam wants to score the goal all alone. Sam shoots … and … misses. The other team wins the match, one-nil. The coach and his team are very disappointed and angry with Sam. At home that evening, Sam is very upset. “We lost because of me, Mum. If I want to be a football star, there’s something important I need to learn.” – “Yes, love, to eat well,” his mother says. “Here, have some more broccoli.” – “A footballer can’t be a genius alone, Mum.
