Story time Reading: Nosy Nancy, the horrible aunt 2j4w7c 8 a) Read the story and underline all the words that are new for you. Aunt Nancy is nosy. She puts her nose into everything. When she comes to our house, she never knocks before she comes into a room. She wants to know everything. It’s not her business, but she doesn’t care. Nothing stops her. She is always talking about people. I’m sure she talks about us behind our backs. I really hate that. “Oh hello, dear, so nice to see you,” she says. “I love coming for a visit.” Before my Mum can say a word, Nosy Nancy is in the living room. “Where are the children?” she says. “I want to see them. Maybe they are playing in their rooms.” – “Hmmm … I don’t know,” says Mum. “Let’s go upstairs,” says Nancy, and rushes upstairs. – “Please don’t open the door to our bedroom, Sammy is sleeping!” Mum calls. “And please don’t go into the study because Henry is working there, don’t disturb him.” Sarah and I are hiding in the wardrobe in her bedroom so that Nosy Nancy cannot find us. A 5 10 15 20 moment later, the door opens and Nosy Nancy is in the bedroom. She is looking around the bedroom, but she cannot see us. Inside the wardrobe we are trying our best not to make a noise. “Humph! They are playing a trick on me,” says Nosy Nancy angrily. Then she goes downstairs again. We come out of the wardrobe and look out of the window. Nosy Nancy is having a cup of tea in the garden with Mum, and she is talking and talking and talking. Just then a little bird flies over them. It drops something in Nosy Nancy’s tea. This is too much for her. “Oh nooooo,” shouts Nosy Nancy. “First the children hide from me and now this!” She jumps up and runs away. – “Super, Nosy Nancy is gone.
