I watched Volver last night – it’s amazing! You should watch it. It’s a drama written and directed by Pedro Almodóvar. I think it was produced in 2006. The story is set in a village in Spain, and it’s about a family – two sisters, their aunt and the teenage daughter of one of the sisters. Another character is the sisters’ dead mother, who comes back to help them in a difficult time. You know, ‘volver’ means ‘to return’ in Spanish. It stars Penélope Cruz, but I think the cast really work as a team. Apparently, six actresses shared the Best Actress Award at the Cannes Film Festival. I think Volver is a warm, funny film about the relationship between women. But it isn’t just for girls! I can only recommend it.
