It is 92 times as big as Austria! But it has a population of only about 26 million people, who mostly live on the coast. This awesome country offers you several different climates – you can find tropical rainforests and even deserts. . . . . 5 Awesome Australia – The land “Down Under” Cities Most of the cities in Australia are on the East Coast. Sydney is the largest and oldest city. It is one of the most beautiful cities, too. Sydney offers a lot of parks and great views of the ocean from the many hills in the city. The most famous sight is the Opera House, which looks like a huge sailing boat. You can find a theatre, a concert hall, galleries and restaurants in it. . . . . 10 . Australia’s wildlife Australia’s wildlife is different from the rest of the world and some of these animals are really famous. The kangaroo is the national emblem. It has a pouch in which it carries its baby. Koalas sleep 20 hours and eat up to half a kilo of eucalyptus leaves a day. The dingo is a type of wild dog. Some other typical Australian animals are crocodiles, wombats and the kookaburra, a bird whose call sounds like a person laughing. Outback 85% of the country is desert, also called Outback. Only a few people live out there and they had to adapt to this hot and lonely place. Some children are not able to visit a school, so they have their lessons on the radio and the internet.
